"Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, will not walk therein "(Jeremiah 6:16).
So now you look back?, If we live in a world that is the whole "machine", it would be easy to stop, look at least much less to see, so it is that sometimes we go wrong paths because we did not consult and ponder what the best for us.
Live era "digital", where everything seems we have at hand, just a "click" and can have it all, and every day that we will absorb, and as stop and ask?.
Our world (people) is becoming so materialistic that we believe that living well: have a car, computer, expensive phones, luxurious bedding and a nice house, is all we need, and that's why we think we do not need anything else, and try to fill the emptiness with material things but we know that this is just an excuse to avoid what's really important -----
(Your not the exterior trim, arranged hair and flashy gold jewelry, or wear fine clothes, 4 but is the person of the heart, imperishable as a gentle and quiet spirit. This is of great value before of God.)
what we mean is that we worry only from outside but from within ------
So that we are forgetting the very thing which is which our lives depend, and our communion with God.
Just please think about how long you do not talk to God (prayer), how long and does not listen (Bible) or worse and forgot that there is a God who is there waiting for YOU to have a moment for him and pay attention,
(Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and opens the door, come in to him and dine with him, and me!).
If you have never known God, I mean not only know the name, like knowing that exists, because many know and we know many celebrities named football or cinema, but we have never shared with them, but they do not even know we exist, just as it is with God we know exists but do not really know if you have never known it's time to do it now.
Or already knew him ...
Or perhaps you are someone who once enjoyed the grace of God, and maybe we have moved away, the question is WHAT DID YOU GOD? for your remote and you decide to live and not under his will but yours, so remember where you out, what he did for you, do not think it's time to start over and "stand on the roads, and look, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way "
1) Stand on the roads. That is, stop in their journey. Life happens at breakneck speed, which often does not give us time to stop for a minute to understand where we are going, and why we headed there. We are so busy in our daily lives, we are so careless in our walk, the current carries us without giving us time for anything.
2) And look. This is to observe and question where we are headed. Note that all paths seem to cross and think about the end of each of them. Whither goes the alcoholic? What purpose will that makes fraud? "Where is the corrupt or the murderer? And ask yourself how it will end one's life, if we walked by where we go.
3) Ask for the old paths. The old paths relate to roads and experienced, proven paths. There is not lost. Paths are the old men of God and there is no way they walked and lost. But starteling how the Bible does not hide the weaknesses and errors of the ancients. What was written was written for our instruction, so that those mistakes do not commit us, but we do walk in the way of faith, of love, of absolute trust in God, and so on. So the recommendation emphasizes Bible: what is the good way, because it is old enough to be a good path: the path taken by Abel is as old as Cain, so we consider the results, consequences and especially if those ways are pleasing to God.
4) walk by him. This is the key to everything. Would be useless to meditate every day, watching carefully, ask for the old paths and to find the right path ... if we are not willing to walk it. That was the response of the people of Israel at the time of the prophet Jeremiah. They said: We will not walk. That is and can be the difference in your life. How willing are you to have an encounter with God (involving the three steps above) if you are not going to follow his steps. Jesus clearly said: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no one comes to the Father except through me." Are you willing to meet him, to follow in their footsteps?.
THE BIBLE SAYS "WHEN THERE IS LIFE THERE IS HOPE"
May God bless and protect us all.
Blessings.
